Intel S-series Core i9-9900K Tipped for Soldered Lid
Intel fans know that come October there will be some new CPUs to lust over. When those refreshed Coffee Lake parts launch there will be three SKUs according to leaks posted at Videocardz. The three parts will be a Core i9-9900K, Core i7-9700K, and a Core i5-9600K.
The leaked slides show that all three of the processors will have soldered lids. Intel lists the solder process as STIM or Solder Thermal Interface Material. It’s not entirely clear from the leak if the Core i5-9600K will have the solder or not.
Other details gleaned in the leak include that the Core i9-9900K will have 8-cores and 16-threads with a clock speed up to 5.0GHz in single core turbo mode. This is the only Core i9 part for the S-Series. Neither the i7 or i5 parts here will support HyperThreading.
Pricing and performance are a mystery for all parts right now. That information is expected in September ahead of the retail launch. Intel fans might want to rethink their Christmas wish list.
