Intel Announces 380GB M.2 Drive For Intel Optane SSD 905P Series
On stage at Computex, Intels Client Computing Group head Gregory Bryant showed off the never before seen Intel Optane SSD 905P 380GB drive that uses the M.2 form factor. This Intel Optane SSD 905P M.2 NVMe drive uses the PCIe gen 3 x4 interface and will more than double the capacity offered by the Intel Optane SSD 800P series. Like the 800P series, the new 905P series uses 3D XPoint memory instead of flash memory for superior performance and endurance. The 905P was launched last month as a Half Height Half Length (HHHL) Add-in-Card at 960GB or as 2.5″ Small Form Factor U.2 drive at 480GB. The new Intel Optane SSD 905P 380GB drive uses the more popular M.2 PCIe NVMe interface and should get content creators and enthusiasts attention. If 380GB isn’t enough space, you can always more more than one for a super fast RAID configuration.
Hopefully our good friends at Intel will get around to sampling us an Intel Optane SSD 905P AIC soon as we didn’t make the sample list the first time around. Well bring you more details on this new drive when the product becomes available later this summer.
