ASUS ROG Phone Takes Mobile Gaming To The Next Level
ASUS is looking to raise the bar when it comes to mobile gaming with the introduction of the ROG Phone. The ASUS ROG Phone needed to be powered by a powerful processor to ensure the ROG Phones 6.0-inch 2160×1080 HDR AMOLED gets silky smooth frame rates as it has a 90Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time. ASUS tapped no other than Qualcomm for processing needs and went with special speed-binned 2.96Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. When the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 was released it came in core clock speeds of up to 2.8GHz, so ASUS has been able to squeeze another 160MHz or 5.7% from this high-end SoC that has 8 Kyro 385 CPU cores and the Adreno 630 GPU. Wireless connectivity should also be stellar thanks to Cat 16 LTE and the latest gigabit-class 60GHz 802.11ad Wi-Fi.
ASUS clearly thought out the design of those phone and knew that gamers need as much power as they can get. The sustained clock speed is an impressive 1.76GHz thanks to an innovative 3D vapor-chamber CPU Cooler that has a copper heat spreader and carbon cooling pads on the circuit board for maximum cooling performance. ASUS also has ROG Phone accessories and right now they consist of the TwinView Dock, Mobile Desktop Dock, and Gamevice controller with WiGig Dock. They also have an external cooling fan called ‘AeroActive Cooler’ that clips onto the back, to help keep heat at bay. We believe this comes with the ROG Phone and the nice thing about it is that there is a 3.5mm headphone jack on it. Other ROG Phone innovations include ASUS Aura RGB lighting and Aura Sync support, plus ASUS HyperCharge direct-charge technology.
Since this is a gaming phone, it is also equipped with something ASUS is calling AirTriggers. From what we gather these are actually sensors that can register the touch of a finger. Each of the three AirTriggers can be programmed with a game key function, but the primary two are designed as left/right triggers. ASUS also put two charging ports on the ROG phone. One is on the bottom in the traditional spot and then there is one on the side. This was done with gamers in mind as it ensures the cord doesn’t get in the way of your hands either way you are holding it! If you don’t have access to a charging cable you’ll be able gmae on the 4,000mAh battery that supposedly lasts 7 hours during WiFi connected gaming sessions. Sounds like you’ll be able to play games like PUBG Mobile much easier and longer now! The only problem is that you’ll have to wait until Q3 2018 for this phone to become available for purchase.
