GTA IV Patch Pulls a Bunch of Songs

By

Rockstar has issued a patch for GTA IV that fans of the music in the game won’t appreciate. The patch has pulled a bunch of songs from the playlists you can jam on the radio stations in the game. A few new tracks were added, but most of them are Russian tracks from Seryoga.

Rockstar had previously told Kotaku that the Vladivostok FM station would be particularly devastated. All but a single Seryoga song has been removed from the game and all others were replaced with new tracks. The Russian station does still have the same host and is reported to continue to implore Americans to ditch fossil fuels.

Some of the songs gone from the American station include “1979” by Smashing Pumpkins, “Fascination” from David Bowie, and Fat Joe’s “Crackhouse.” The Kanye West tracks are still in the game. If you are thinking you might just skip the update and keep your tunes in place, that might not be an option.

Some suggest that keeping Steam in offline mode will prevent the update until you can backup files. PS3 and Xbox 360 fans could keep their consoles offline as well. Or you could just listen to Spotify as you play.
