Nintendo Teases Switch Online Service “Products”

One of the things that avid Switch players have been wanting is an online service that will allow them to play games online in multiplayer modes like other consoles offer. Nintendo originally promised that service in late 2017, but it never happened. The service will finally go online in September 2018.

Nintendo had said before that the service would allow for online play and voice chat, but full details had been withheld. Nintendo is teasing some of the other bonuses that gamers will get for registering for the service. Nintendo’s president Tatsumi Kimishima said that Nintendo will offer “products” that gamers should find appealing.

He said, “It is less about the mechanism and more a question of what kinds of products we can offer, and the spread of the service will depend on whether consumers want what we offer.”

He also teased that the announcement will be worth the wait. It’s common with other online services to get free games each month, normally older titles. It would be no surprise to see these “products” be video games for the Switch. Pricing is set at $20 for a year reports GameSpot.
