Google Chromecast Streaming Game Service Rumored

A new rumor is making the rounds that Google has eyes on getting into the gaming market. The rumor claims that the search giant is looking to launch a streaming game service that would work with the Chromecast device. The rumor of the new gaming service comes from sources that claim knowledge of the project.

There is some indication that the streaming game service could even come from a new Google-made game console. Streaming game services have historically not done well with gamers preferring the PC, PlayStation, or Xbox.

The project is codenamed “Yeti” and has been in the works for two years reports IGN. The head of the program is said to be Phil Harrison, a former PlayStation and Xbox executive. With Google’s money and someone who has been in the industry, this rumor is certainly intriguing.

Sony already operates a streaming game service with its PlayStation Now and NVIDIA has GeForce Now. It remains to be seen if gamers will be interested in another streaming game service.
