Nintendo Switch Gamers Prefer Handheld Mode

During Nintendos recent financial briefing some details were spilled about the Nintendo Switch and how people are using it. When the concept was first announced some criticized it and believed that no one would use it for a mobile gaming device since smartphones are so prevalent. As it turns out, Switch gamers prefer handheld mode.

Nintendo offered up data that shows that about 30% of Switch owners play the console in handheld mode most of the time. Just under 20% of Switch owners play docked most of the time. Most gamers are apparently using both modes and switching between them as needed.

Nintendo also offered up data about owners of the consoles. The Switch is very popular with gamers in their 20s and early 30s. The console is also selling well for gamers in the 10 to 19 range. The Switch is also popular amongst gamers in their late 30s.

Nintendo hopes to sell 14 million Switch consoles the first year it is available. If it pulls that off, the Switch will beat the lifetime sales of the Wii U in the first year of availability. Production has ramped up for the Switch and it should be easier to find in stores for the holiday season that is now upon us reports Digital Trends.
