Lenovo’s Retro ThinkPad 25 Gets Official

By

If you were a fan of the ThinkPad notebooks that IBM sold back in the day, you will be interested in the new Thinkpad 25 from Lenovo. The Thinkpad 25 is meant to be a retro throwback to the style and looks of those old notebooks with the internals of a modern machine. That means the retro goodness is in the looks and you will get modern performance from the machine.

The retro touches include things like a classic styled 7-row keyboard that has backlighting and a blue Enter key with blue accents on the subkeys. It looks very 1992. Under the fancy keyboard you get 7th generation Intel Core i7-7500U 2.7GHz processor, Windows 10 Pro, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX with 2GB GDDR5 RAM graphics, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and Dolby Audio for premium sound.

You will also get a 14-inch FHD touchscreen display and a slick battery that will stay gassed up for 13.9 hours of use per charge. A 512GB PCIe SSD handles storage duties promising to be nearly three times faster at boot than a normal HDD and to transfer files much faster. Thunderbolt 3 tech is integrated bringing Thunderbolt to USB-C port for faster data.

That Thunderbolt 3 port can be used to connect external display and other accessories. An integrated HD web camera and dual array microphones with background noise reduction for voice chats. A fingerprint reader is integrated and Windows Hello is supported. WiFi, Bluetooth, a memory card reader, and other features are included as well. The ThinkPad 25 starts at $1899.
