Crackdown 3 Pushed to 2018, Not launching with Xbox One X
The first time we got a look at Crackdown 3 in its 4K glory was back in December of 2016. The game was supposed to launch alongside the Xbox One X game console, which is set to land on November 7. In fact, the game was to be one of the big launch titles for the Xbox One X, but Crackdown 3 has been delayed until 2018 reports The Verge.
For Microsoft this means that one of the only major exclusive Xbox games meant for the 4K capable console won’t be launching along with it. “Were very excited about Crackdown 3, and so are many fans, and so its a difficult call to move the release date,” Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis told Polygon. “However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time.”
The cynic in me says that there is something wrong with Crackdown 3 or the graphics weren’t up to par. I can’t imagine Microsoft Studios delaying a game that was to be the main launch title for a new console if there wasn’t something major wrong with it. If the game launched as the main title for the 4K console and was subpar, it could have cast a shadow over the Xbox One X launch as well.
There are some other Xbox exclusive games that will be available along with the new console including Forza Motorsport 7, Cuphead, and Super Lucky’s Tale. PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds is coming to the console as well but the launch date for that game isn’t announced. Super Lucky’s Tale isn’t that exciting, it is a platformer that was originally bundled with the Oculus Rift minus the VR aspects for the Xbox. The launch lineup for Xbox One X will mostly be already available games with 4k updates.
