AMD Radeon RX Vega Pricing and Radeon Pack Discussion

AMD has finally lifted the embargo on the specifications and pricing details for the upcoming Radeon RX Vega graphics card series! The AMD Radeon RX Vega series consists of the Vega 64 and Vega 56 graphics cards, but you can get those to models in a number of different configurations. For example the Radeon RX Vega 64 is named that way because it has 64 compute units (4,096 stream processors) and will be available as an air-cooled card, limited edition air-cooled card or as a liquid cooled edition. There is then the Radeon RX Vega 56 that has 56 compute units (3,584 stream processors) that is only going to be available as an air cooled model.

The air cooled AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 have 4,096 Stream Processors, 8GB HBM2 memory and 484 GB/s bandwidth. The clock speeds of the GPU are 1247 MHz base with 1546MHz boost clocks. These speeds will give the card a board power rating of 295 Watts and an impressive 12.66 TFLOPs of compute power. For those that want an even faster graphics card there is the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled Edition. This model has a significantly higher base GPU clock of 1406 MHz and a boost clock of 1677 MHz. This causes the board power to be higher at 345 Watts, but it has 13.7 TFLOPS of compute power. The Radeon RX Vega 64 card itself will run you $499 and the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled Edition runs $699, but comes with some extra goodies that we’ll talk about later.

If those prices are too high for you there is the AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 that is priced at $399 for the card alone. This model has 3,584 Stream Processors with a base clock of 1156 MHz and a boost clock of 1471 MHz. It has 8GB of HBM2, but it’s running at a lower clock speed for 410 GB/s of memory bandwidth. This card has 10.5 TFLOPs of compute power, so it isn’t a slouch by any means.

AMD is also introducing something called Radeon Packs for the very first time. These are designed to make it easier for people to upgrade to an enthusiast gaming experience (60+ frames-per-second 4K gaming). AMD believes that there are many gamers out there who are in need of a system-wide upgrade and that this is the perfect time for them to upgrade from an older 1080p monitors to get a 1440P or better monitor with AMD FreeSync technology to get a buttery-smooth, ultrawide gaming experience.

Each Radeon Packs include a $200 discount on the 34 Samsung CF791 curved ultrawide FreeSync monitor, and a $100 discount on select Ryzen 7 processors and X370 motherboard combos. The total potential hardware savings is $300, but all of the packs include $120 worth of new games (titles vary by region, but it is Prey and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus here in North America) which every purchaser of a Radeon Pack will receive.

These discounts are applied at the time of purchase, and gamers can take or leave pieces as they see fit. So if you already have a great system and just want RX Vega, a new monitor and the games, you can do that. If you only want RX Vega and the free games, you can do that too.

Available Radeon Packs

Radeon Red Pack features the Radeon RX Vega 56, an air-cooled card for a total SEP of $499.
Radeon Black Pack features the Radeon RX Vega 64, an air-cooled card for a total SEP of $599.
Radeon Aqua Pack features the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled Edition, the most powerful of the Radeon RX Vega graphics cards, for a total SEP of $699.

The only way to purchase the AMD Radeon RX Vega Liquid Cooled Graphics card is with the Radeon Aqua Pack for $699, which is interesting to say the least. The other Radeon Packs add $100 to the cost of the standalone Radeon RX Vega 64 and Radeon RX Vega 56 graphics cards.
