Nintendo Says Sorry in Japan for Switch Shortages
Nintendo is feeling pretty bad that it can’t get enough Switch consoles into the hands of fans around the world right now. The company has issued an official apology in Japan for the difficulty gamers are having finding its Nintendo Switch main unit. The product launched on March 3, 2017 and has been nearly impossible to find since then.
Nintendo has even spread the apology over to the dealers as well who are probably inundated each day with people looking for the game system. I think the only people that might be happy about the poor availability of the console are the scalpers selling the hardware for hundreds of dollars over MSRP.
Nintendo says that it is continuing to ship more consoles every week and that it is working hard to get more Switch consoles to customers. Shiping will be increased in July and August including shipments of that brightly colored Splatoon 2 box set. However, it’s unclear if that Splatoon 2 box set will come to the US.
Nintendo is working on beefing up production and has vowed to get as many units as possible into customer hands towards the end of the year. This should be a very big holiday season for Switch hardware if it’s available.
