Xbox Games Pass Puts Over 100 Games at your Fingertips

By

Microsoft has just announced a new offering for gamers on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 that will put over 100 different game titles at your fingertips for play at one monthly fee. Some are calling the service the “Netflix of games” but that isn’t an accurate description because the games that you can play with the service aren’t streaming.

You do have to download each of the games you want to play. This means you better have plenty of storage space on your Xbox or you will end up constantly deleting games and downloading other titles to play more than a couple games. The upside to having to download games with the Xbox Games Pass rather than streaming them is that you don’t need a super fast and stable internet connection for downloads as you would to stream a game.

There are no new original games just for the Xbox Games Pass, the games available are all existing games. Forbes reports that the Xbox service has more Xbox 360 games available to play than Xbox One games. Forbes does speculate that Xbox might give subscribers earlier access to new games in the future to bring more value to the service.

The Xbox Games Pass service will launch this month and costs $9.99 monthly. Of the 110 games available 35 are for the Xbox One and 75 are Xbox 360 titles. Some of those Xbox 360 titles can be played on the Xbox One thanks to backwards compatibility. Microsoft will give you a discount on game titles and DLC if you choose to buy them when you are a subscriber. Some key Xbox One titles include Halo 5: Guardians, Payday 2, and Saint’s Row IV. Key Xbox 360 titles include several of the Bioshock franchise, Borderlands, Gears of War, and Grid 2.
