The First AMD Ryzen Gaming Laptop is the ASUS ROG Strix G702ZC
AMD today held a press conference during Computex 2017 in Taipei, Taiwan and showed off the latest AMD Ryzen processors, Radeon Vega GPU and AMD EPYC server processors. One of the announcements during the livestream was the debut of the first AMD Ryzen driven gaming laptop!
The first Ryzen laptop is the ASUS ROG Strix G702ZC and it is powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 1700 CPU in tandem with an AMD Radeon RX580 GPU with 4GB of VRAM. The AMD Ryzen 7 1700 CPU is an 8-core, 16-thread processor that is clocked at 3.0GHz with a boost clock of 3.7GHz. It also has an AMD FreeSync panel and is Premium VR Ready. This 65W processor should keep up pretty well against Intel Core i5 and Core i7 gaming laptops of today. In fact, ASUS claims it is the fastest laptop in the world in terms of CPU score. The 17.3″ gaming laptop features up to a 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD and a 1TB HDD for mass storage.
It will be interesting to see if ASUS will update this gaming laptop with VEGA graphics in the months to come and then this laptop might be the fastest in the world for both CPU and GPU performance!
No word on pricing just yet, but the folks over at Laptop have a video of the new notebook at Computex that you can watch below.
