Energizer Wall & Car USB Charger Reviews
Energizer USB Chargers
Energizer is no stranger when it comes to making some of the best power solutions available and in recent years the company has been focusing on keeping you mobile devices powered-up when you are at home and on the run. With power-hungry smartphones, Bluetooth headsets and tablets becoming normal devices that leave the house with, many are finding that the battery life on these devices just don’t last all day. Thanks to our ever-growing need to stay connected, the need to keep our devices charged up is only increasing.
This need to stay charged is why Energizer released universal USB wall and car chargers! These chargers are compact and are designed to work on either your wall outlet or from a vehicle’s DC outlet (the good old cigarette lighter port). Energizer offers a wide variety of chargers ranging from one USB port with a cable to two ports without a cable and pricing starts at just $9.99. Energizer knows that many people would benefit from having chargers at home, in the car and at work, so they are banking that you’ll buy more than one charger and wanted to keep these affordable. Leaving your chargers at the places you frequent most is a convenient way of charging your devices.
Energizer sent over three of their universal USB chargers for use to try out. They have a total of ten different chargers though, so be sure to check them out to find out which one is the right version for you. Energizer has offers five car chargers and five wall chargers and then from there they differentiate them by the number of ports and cables that come with the charger.
The first charger that we wanted to take a closer look at is the Energizer 5W Premium USB Wall Charger with Micro USB cable (PC-1WACMC). This wall charger costs $19.68 shipped and offers what Energizer calls versatility and portability thanks to a flexible cable storage and flip out power plug. On the front of the charger you have a single 5 Watt USB port and a charging indicator light that lets you know when your device is charging and when it’s done.
All of the Energizer wall chargers have a fold down plug and is designed so that it will not block the second outlet from being used. This model is rated at 5 Watts or 1 Amp and is ideal for smartphones and MP3 players, but Energizer also makes a 10 Watt version for those that have an Apple iPad or another power hungry tablet. The 10 Watt version doesn’t have a cord wrap though, so pick the one that best suits your needs.
One of the best features of this charger is that it includes a 70cm (27.5-inch) USB cable and a flexible cable storage solution that helps reduce clutter by easily storing the USB cable when not in use. In the photo above you can see how we left the USB cable plugged into the charger and just wrapped the cord up behind the flexible rubber housing. This is a great way of keeping the cable with the charger and does make transporting it much easier.
For those that are looking for something in the car we have the Energizer Car USB Charger and Micro USB Charging Cable kit (PC-1CAC). This is basically the same thing as the wall charger we just showed you with the obvious difference being that this is used on a 12V power port in your car. It comes with a 70cm USB cable with either micro USB or Apple charging connectors at the end depending on which version you get. This charger has one USB port that is rated at 5 Watts or 1 Amp. The USB cable storage solution is really useful here as when you are done you can wrap it back up and easily put it in your center console and glove box. This car charger can be found for $14.99 plus shipping.
The last Energizer charger that we wanted to show you doesn’t come with a cable or innovative cable storage solution, but it has two USB ports! The Energizer Dual Car Universal USB Charger (PC-2CA ) can be found for $15.88 shipped and ideal for a family or individual that needs to charger more than one device at a time. The charger is rated at 1.5 Amps total, so simple math would tell us on a 12 Volt circuit that translates to 18 Watts or 9 Watts per port. We were able to easily charge two smartphones or our Motorola Xoom and a Smartphone with this charger in our car. Both of the car chargers are great to have in your car as everyone forget to charge the phone before leaving every so often!
All three of the Energizer car and wall USB chargers worked great for us and we found no obvious flaws with any of them. These chargers work as they were designed to and really do make life easier and for that we recommend them to anyone that feels they are needed!
Legit Bottom Line: The Energizer Universal USB Charger series keep your mobile devices charged up and won’t break the bank in doing so.
