Samsung Smart Pocket Watch Concept

A new Samsung concept wearable has turned up that is said to combine the features of the Samsung Gear S3 into a new form factor reports PCMag. The concept watch was shown off at Baselworld in Switzerland and it might be popular with the sort of person who hates wearing a watch, but wants something that can track workouts and perform other tasks.

The form factor of the concept is all pocket watch from the 1800s. If Tom Hanks’ character in “The Polar Express” wanted to smartwatch, this is the product he would choose. The concept watch was designed by Yvan Arpa, who also had other concepts based on the Gear S3 at the show.

One of the other concepts the designer was showing off was a mechanical movement in the chassis of the S3. The big downside I see is that with most of us having pockets stuffed with items like smartphones, wallets, and more I don’t know how well a pocket watch would go over on the market today.

The wearables market isn’t exactly booming so it’s cool to see some new designs being shown off. The pocketwatch concept certainly looks big and I wouldn’t want to carry that thing in my pocket.
