A First Look at the SteelSeries Sensei

We recently received the SteelSeries Sensei Gaming Mouse, the latest professional grade laser mouse from SteelSeries developed and marketed by some of the best eSports players in the world. The ambidextrous mouse features a 32-bit ARM processor, 3 different light zones to help personalize various user profiles, and a weight and size that is specifically built for the competitive gamer.

The mouse weighs in at 102 grams (.22 lbs) and is 125.5 mm (4.9 in) long and comes with many great features. One of the things that sets the SteeelSeries Sensei apart from its competitors is it’s the ability to go up to 11,400 CPI (counts per inch) in resolution. This is meant for those of you who want extreme precision from your pointing device. This is an extremely high CPI and compares well to many gaming mice on the market such as the Logitech G500 and Razer Imperator. As mentioned, the Sensei has an ambidextrous layout allowing ease of use with the left as well as the right hands.

SteelSeries included the SteelSeries Engine, software available for download from the SteelSeries’ website that allows the user to access many to customize the mouse in a variety of ways. Besides typical mice customization options such as CPI settings and polling rates, the SteelSeries Sensei mouse also allows custom profiles, different lighting configurations on the mouse, and make use of their proprietary mouse assists such as SteelSeries Exactaim and SteelSeries Exactlift. The SteelSeries Sensei comes in a nice-feeling cardboard box with the front section velcroed on. The mouse name and picture is prominently displayed against the black color of the box. Once opened, you can see the mouse displayed in a plastic case. All included documentation is behind the artfully showcased mouse.
