Intel Core i7-6700K and Core i5-6600K Skylake Retail Box CPU Photos
One of our readers just tipped us off that Intel Core i7-6700K and Core i5-6600K retail box processor images have been leaked online! These two processors are the first of the Intel 6th Generation 14nm processor series that is internally known as Skylake. It looks like Intel has updated their retail packaging with a fresh new look and it appears that these processors are being shipped without a CPU cooler as the box is super thin!
The Intel Core i7-6700K retail packaging shows that this quad-core processor with Intel Hyper-Threading (four physical cores) is clocked at 4.00GHz, has 8MB of cache and is an LGA1151 CPU for the Intel Z170 platform. The part number for a retail boxed Intel Core i7-6700K processor is BX80662I76700K and the S-Spec number for this chip was SR2BBR. The back of the box shows that the Core i7-6700K Skylake processor has Intel HD 530 Graphics. Since this is a ‘k’ processor it is expected to be fully unlocked with a base clock of 4.0 GHz and can reach 4.2 GHz thanks to Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology. The Intel Core i7-6700K is said to be a 95W TDP processor that supports both DDR4 and DDR3L memory.
The poster also put up images of the 6th Generation Intel Core i5-6600K that appears to have a base clock of 3.5GHz and a Turbo Boost 2.0 clock speed of 3.9GHz. This processor lacks Intel Hyper-Threading, so it only has four cores/threads, but it should come at a more affordable price. Intel also reduced the amount of the L3 cache as this processor has 6MB of L3 cache.
Both of these processors are expected trevealed at the Gamescom show in Cologne, Germany later this week that begins on August 5th and ends on August 9th!
