Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus Network Storage Server Review
Introducing the Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus
Being somewhat of a Hard Drive nut, I’m always on the lookout for the next best thing when it comes to anything Storage related. The opportunity arose to take a look at ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus, and I was more than happy to have the chance to play around with another NAS Device. I was even more thrilled to learn that not only did the NAS have the latest Intel Technology, it also had the ability to serve as a back end in order to stream to any DLNA Certified Device
The Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus has many of the features we have come to expect in a NAS Device, advanced RAID capabilities, used relatively little power, and as noted before, could stream to a variety of devices. Netgear like most other companies sporting NAS Devices to consumers has developed there own type of self expanding RAID Array for easy growth of RAID Arrays. Called X-RAID, Netgear explains X-RAID as follows. “The X in X-RAID stands for expandable, and as you may guessed, X-RAID is expandable RAID. So youre probably asking great, its expandable, but how? or how much work do I need to make my RAID expand? The answer is its automatic. That means theres no need to worry about selecting the wrong command or trying to remember the right series of steps. The ReadyNAS makes all the right decisions for you.”
