Instagram Users Upload More than 5 million Video Clips in 24 hours

By

Instagram announced that after just 24 hours of introducing the new video sharing capabilities, users had shared more than 5 million video clips to their friends using the newest Instagram feature. Late last week Instagram added video to both the iOS and Android applications allowing users to capture up to 15 seconds of video and even apply various filters (including image stabilization) to the video clip before sharing with your friends. The Instagram application is available now for iOS and Android based devices.

The feature, which bears a resemblance to Twitter’s Vine application, seems to be an early hit with Instagram’s 130 million active users, who, in the first eight hours, uploaded so many videos that it would take a year to watch them all. At peak, Instagram users uploaded 40 hours of video per minute. The climactic moment came Thursday night as the Miami Heat defeated the San Antonio Spurs during the NBA Finals.
