Facebook Launches Graph Search Tool for Exploring Your Network
The search feature on Facebook is very basic. You type in a name of a person or a business entity, and it pulls up their Facebook page. That all changed today when Facebook introduced an improved search tool, called Graph Search, that will scour the Facebook social network to answer more sophisticated questions.
Facebook said Graph Search is launching immediately in beta, although users will need to get on a waiting list to gain access. The company will continue tweaking the product based on feedback from beta users, but not not mention when it will be finalized. Facebook has over 1 billion user profiles and 24 billion images, so something like Graph Search could make life much easier for all on the network.
“This is one of the coolest things we’ve done in a while,” Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said at a press event at the company’s headquarters.
