Lucid Virtu MVP 2.0 To Be Shown At CES 2013

It appears that Lucid is getting close to announce Virtu MVP2.0 technology and it wouldn’t surprise us if we were to see some demos of it next week at CES 2013! Intel announced this week that they are a launch partner of Lucid Virtu MVP2.0, so we expect a formal announced from Lucid very soon along with many other companies supporting the new technology.

We don’t know what the new features will be in Virtu MVP2.0, but Lucid’s original Virtu MVP software allows desktop and notebook PCs to fully utilize both integrated and discrete graphics in a single system without the need to adjust settings or needing to switch video outputs. The software has done very well since it was released as it allowed PC users to take advantage of Intel QuickSync technology on Ivy Bridge processors when running a discrete graphics card for gaming. Rumor has it that Lucid MVP2.0 will fully support Windows 8 and that it will be available to purchase and install on any system. This is a fairly big strategy change as before Lucid sold software licenses to system builders and motherboard manufacturers. If the rumored price of ‘under $30’ is true it should be affordable to the masses, which is good and bad at the same time. Motherboard makers might see this as bad news as they have been using Lucid Virtu MVP as an upsell for their more expensive higher-end boards. Now it looks like you will be able to get a budget board and buy the software yourself if it doesn’t already come with your motherboard or system! We’ll be sure to stop by and check out what Lucid is doing at CES 2013 next week!
