Corsair Obsidian 900D PC Case To Debut At CES 2013 – Godzilla Coming!

Corsair recently shared a picture of the upcoming Obsidian 900D Godzilla PC Case that will debut at CES 2013 over at Overclock.net. A representative for the company said that the case has dimensions of 655mm x 694mm x 251mm and will be compatible with ATX, E-ATX, XL-ATX and HP-ATX motherboards. No inside shots of the case were shown, but it appears there will be room for 15 hard drives or solid-state drives. It also has four external 5.25-inch drive bays that can be used for whatever you like.

Water cooling enthusiasts will be happy to know that you can install two 480 mm and a 360 mm radiator inside this beast without the need for any modifications. For those concerned with aircooling, the 900D case comes with three 120mm fans mounted in front (Corsair Airflow SP120’s). The middle section of the front aluminum fascia is “floating”, like a speaker grill over a high-end speaker for improved airflow. If you look closely at the image above you’ll see that there is about an inch gap oneach side, and the panel is nearly two inches away from the front fans, which gives them plenty of room to intake cool air. The front aluminum fascia comes off easily to change the front dust filter or to access the three 120mm fans in front. When it comes to the front panel I/O connectivity you can expect to see four USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 and the usual audio jacks.

The picture above is of an early ‘T3’ sample and is an early prototype of the 900D. We have been told that the final version will have be have a better finish with tighter lines. The demo system in the photo above has two 480s and two 240s in it. It also has 23 Corsair Airflow series fans inside the case in the image above (22 SP120’s and a single AF140)! The dust filters are said to be magnetic and overall it looks like it will be a beast. Corsair has already said that “This is not a case for 99% of enthusiasts,” but we know we have a few readers that are looking for something a case that is over the top and this is it. Corsair has not said much about pricing, but they did say that it is not going to be priced to compete with Little Devil or Case Labs or the TJ11, since the 900D is not 100% aluminum. We know for certain that the Corsair Obsidian 900D will be priced higher than the Obsidian 800D, which means this case will be more than $250. The MSRP of the Corsair 800D is $299, so expect the 900D to carry a$399 MSRP with a street price of around $349.99. The average selling price for a PC case is $80, so start saving up if you want one of these bad boys that is due out later in Q1 2013.
