AMD Radeon HD 8900 Video Card Series Specs Leaked
It looks like Hardwareinfo has leaked the purported specifications for AMD’s upcoming Radeon HD 8000 ‘Sea Islands’ video cards. These are the discrete desktop gaming graphics cards that are rumored to be coming out in Q2 2013. The latest bit of information on these cards gives us a look at detailed specifications of AMD’s Radeon HD 8900 series. So far details have leaked out on AMD’s Venus (HD 8900), Mars (HD 8800) and Oland (HD 8700) series cards.. Here are the leaked specifications of the AMD Radeon HD 8900 series of video cards…
AMD Radeon HD 8970:
- Venus XT
- 5.1 Billion Transistors
- 2560 Stream Processors
- 3GB GDDR5 384-bit Memory
- 1050 MHz Clock Speed
- 6 GHz Memory Frequency
- 260 Watt TDP
AMD Radeon HD 8950:
- Venus XT
- 5.1 Billion Transistors
- 2304 Stream Processors
- 3GB GDDR5 384-bit Memory
- 1050 MHz Clock Speed
- 5.5 GHz Memory Frequency
- 210 Watt TDP
The AMD Radeon HD 8900 series reportedly has 5.1 billion transistors and 2,560 stream processors with the fully enabled. The Radeon HD 8950 will have 212 fewer stream processors than the HD 8970. Both cards have a 1050MHz core clock speed along with 3GB of GDDR5 memory that use a 384-bit memory interface. The AMD Radeon HD 8950 has a 500MHz slower memory clock speed, so it looks like the Radeon HD 8950 will have less cores and slower memory.
AMD Radeon HD 8990:
- Venus XTX
- 5.1 Billion Transistors on each Core
- 5120 Stream Processors
- 3GB GDDR5 384-bit Memory x2
- 950 MHz Clock Speed
- 1250 GHz Memory Frequency
It looks like AMD will be bringing back a dual-GPU monster with the AMD Radeon HD 8990. Everything gets doubled, but notice the clock speeds are decreased due to the higher power use. It looks like AMD is cooking up some pretty good video cards and we can’t wait to see what the performance numbers look like!
