T-Mobile in Unusual iPhone Marketing Push

By

In an odd marketing push, T-Mobile is trying to win the custom of iPhone users even though it doesn’t sell the phone itself, by selling to owners of unlocked iPhones, starting tomorrow. The idea is to sell these users SIMs that will allow these phones to work with networks run by T-Mobile, AT&T or another applicable carrier. T-Mobile will also sell its own iPhone apps allowing users to do such things as “check their account status, view their bill, check their voicemail, and watch streaming video content”. Of course, Apple’s “mystery” product launch of the officially unannounced ‘iPhone 5’ happens tomorrow as well, the same day as T-Mobile starts its marketing push, but there is no word on whether T-Mobile will make a surprise appearance as the iPhone’s newest carrier.

According to T-Mobile marketing VP Suzanne Lowry, on September 12, the company will install display units in its retail stores with the iPhone 4 front and center. But no, you still won’t be able to buy a T-Mobile version of the iPhone 4.
