Valve Brings Portal For Android to NVIDIA SHIELD and We Get Cake
At the end of the GPU Technology Conference 2014, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang announced that Portal would be coming to the NVIDIA SHIELD. This was pretty big news as Portal is a wildly popular game title and it meant that Valve was developing an official Android port, instead of simply making it available to to NVIDIA SHIELD owners via PC streaming. Portal will be joining over 300 SHIELD-supported Android games. Neither NVIDIA nor Valve stated when Portal would arrive on shield, but it looks like that time has finally arrived. How do we know this?
We received a congratulations cake from Aperture Laboratories! No kidding!
Inside was this card that invited us to try out the game title ahead of the public availability. Some of you might be wondering why NVIDIA is doing all this for the Portal coming to NVIDIA SHIELD through Google Play since you can already stream games from your PC to the SHIELD. This means that you can now play Portal without needing to do PC streaming. Let’s just hope that this chocolate cake doesn’t have a similar recipe as a Black Forest Cake by GLaDOS! Then again cake is motivation to keep you going to complete all the test chambers. If you read the fine print there is a consequence for failure. Any contact with the chamber floor will result in an unsatisfactory mark on your official testing record, followed by death. Back to playing Portal on the NVIDIA SHIELD!
