Gottfrid Svartholm, Co-Founder Of The Pirate Bay, Faces New Charges

By

We previously reported that Gottfrid Svartholm had been arrested in Cambodia. What we didn’t know at the time was the specific reason behind it. Their was alot of speculation but nothing truly concrete as to why. Well it now seems that the reason for his arrest isn’t about his previous copyright violations, but is instead linked to him allegedly hacking Logica. Logica is a Swedish company that provides IT services to said country’s tax offices. The news of the hacking was originally reported in the Swedish publication DN.se, which claims that Logica’s servers had been penetrated on numerous occasions between 2010 and 2012 with tax records being compromised. Granted these new allegations seem a bit far fetched at least until more information becomes available. After all why would Svartholm commit serious digital crimes when he is already on the run from the police because of his previous violations of copyright law. This seems to be one of those head scratching moments where everything doesn’t quite add up yet.

Gottfrid Svartholm Warg

The new allegations raise plenty of questions, such as why would Warg compound his legal problems (violating copyright law is not exactly a capital offense) and commit serious digital crimes while on the run from police? What would he want with tax records?

DN.se also said that Warg isn’t in good physical condition. It has been reported that Cambodia officials plan to extradite Warg.
