Nissan Uses Ultra-Ever Dry Coating To Make Cars Self-Cleaning
Nissan has begun testing an innovative paint technology that repels mud, rain and everyday dirt that works so well that they believe that drivers may never have to clean their car again. The ideal of a self-cleaning car sounds a bit too good to be true, but it looks like Nissan might be onto something that will help keep your car from getting dirty as quickly as normal. Nissan is trying out a superhydrophobic (water) and oleophobic (hydrocarbons) coating called ‘Ultra-Ever Dry’ that should repel all water-based and some oil-based liquid. Nissan didn’t come up with the product though as they have applied Ultra-Ever Dry made by UltraTech International, Inc.
The Ultra-Ever Dry treatment does not dry clear according to UltraTech International, so true car enthusiasts any body shops might be turned off by that fact. Even though the treatment isn’t clear, it can can be sprayed over existing paint and clearcoats, which means that this could be done to any car. It cannot be used on windshields though as it obscures visibility through glass. We doubt that Nissan will offer the treatment at the dealership, but will make it an option when you order a brand new Nissan. Then again, it doesn’t appear that Nissan has any exclusivity with this product, so it looks like anyone can use it!
Nissan released a video of their Ultra-Ever Dry treatment on the all-new Nissan Note. The clip shows the treated side having water, oil and other road dirt being repelled.
There are also a number of videos done by UltraTech International that are very cool and worth looking at as it shows a wide variety of options.
