Screen Shots Revealed For Crytek’s Cancelled Shooter Called Redemption

By

A neoGAF user by the name miladesn discovered an interesting bit of work in French artist Eric Cochonneau’s portfolio. The former Guerrilla Games employee had been working at Crytek and was helping out on a game called Redemption. The game itself was as we now know canned, but until now no one had seen what it looked like. Instead of nano suit super soldiers and aliens, Redemption was more subdued with a rural settings and people that looked normal. The game which was to be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 as well as PC we would expect, was in development at Crytek’s German studio. Considering the visual fidelity and change up from the typical we see in today’s shooters the game looked promising. Instead Crytek moved on to Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 rather than finishing this title back around 2008. For those wanting a peek at the rest of the artwork in HD you can visit Eric Cochonneau’s portfolio entry for Redemption here. That said, would this have been a better game than Crysis 2? Let us know your thoughts below.

Redemption Character

As you can see, its no Crysis. The blue skies and green jungles of the companys trademark title (at the time) are nowhere to be seen. Instead, Redemption looks more like Alan Wake, with a moody rural setting and people who look like people, not soldiers/aliens/mutant corpses.
