LaCie Introduces RuggedKey USB 3.0 Key

By

Today, LaCie announced the RuggedKey USB 3.0 key, the latest in their line of rugged drives designed by Neil Poulton, intended to protect against multiple threats.

Coloured an eye-catching orange, the case protects it from heat, cold and 100 meter drops. It’s even IP-54 certified to resist damage from dust and water to enhance on-the-go data protection. The RuggedKey can transfer data at up to 150MB/s over its USB 3.0 interface, which allows the transfer of a HD movie, 3,000 photos or a 5GB file in less than a minute. It is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0, as would be expected.

RuggedKey supports Wuala secure cloud storage and data encryption, making data easily accessible over the internet by use of a mirror copy without compromising security. Also, the device supports password protection backed with AES 256-bit encryption to prevent unauthorized access. More pictures are available at the link below.

The LaCie RuggedKey comes in 16GB and 32GB capacities and will be available at Apple Retail and through LaCie Online Store and LaCie Resellers starting at the suggested retail price of $39.95 (VAT included).
