Toshiba Announces AL13SE Series SAS 10,000 RPM Enterprise Hard Drives

This morning, Toshiba released its AL13SE series, a 2.5-inch enterprise 6 Gb/sec SAS 2.0 HDD that is the first 10,000 RPM model drive from Toshiba that uses a dual-stage head positioning actuator that provides a 32 percent increase in sustained transfer rate. The drive is also Toshibas first enterprise class drive at the 900GB capacity point, but is also available in 300GB, 450GB and 600GB capacities. The drives have a 64MB cache buffer and feature an average typical seek time of 3.7ms read and 4.1ms write. All of the Toshiba AL13SE series drives are backed by a five year warranty and have a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) rating of 2 million hours.
