Twitter Gets a New Logo – Do You Give A Tweet?

By

Twitter unveiled a new design for the companys bird logo that will be the brands new official symbol. The company explained in a blog post that there is no longer a need for text, bubbled typefaces, or a lowercase t to represent Twitter. This means that Twitter has dropped the lowercase t and is now using a redesigned bird as its logo. This is the companies first brand change in the six years the company has been around.

Twitter gave no reason for the refreshed bird, which is less chubby, has fewer feathers and is angled more towards the sky than its predecessor. We noticed that #twitterbird was trending this week with plenty of ideas as to why the changes were made. Here is the video below showing how the new logo is made from three sets of circles.

Our new bird grows out of love for ornithology, design within creative constraints, and simple geometry. This bird is crafted purely from three sets of overlapping circles similar to how your networks, interests and ideas connect and intersect with peers and friends. Whether soaring high above the earth to take in a broad view, or flocking with other birds to achieve a common purpose, a bird in flight is the ultimate representation of freedom, hope and limitless possibility.
