NVIDIA Reveals GTX 680M High Performance Kepler GPU For Laptops

By

Last month, we reported on leaked details of NVIDIA’s upcoming high performance GTX 680M GPU for notebooks. Now, NVIDIA has officially revealed its GTX 680M GPU for notebooks and we’re glad to report that it’s actually better than the leaks had suggested. Firstly, it’s a true Kepler core, not a cheap rebrand and packs many more CUDA cores than the leaks had suggested, making them 1344 in all, not a mere 744 or 768 cores. The GPU clock runs at 720MHz and it talks to its 4GB GDDR5 memory over a 256-bit bus. Also, it implements the GPU Boost feature that’s new to Kepler, allowing higher clocks when electrical power and thermals allow for it. The GPU is due to show up in laptops from Alienware and MSI, along with many others.
