Huntkey Introduces Surge Protector For Computers – Turns off Peripherals For You!

By

We normally don’t make news posts about power strips, but Huntkey has announced a new model that managed to catch our attention. The Huntkey PAA803-2 Smart Power Surge Protector looks like any other 8-outlet power strip, but this one has a twist. One outlet is designed specifically for your computer and three others are designed for your computer peripherals. When your computer is powered off the three other power outlets are turned off. This was done to save power as many forget to turn off their speakers and monitors. Huntkey says that this can save as much as 179kWh or $29 USD per year in energy savings. Not a bad feature to have, but you’ll have to remember not to plug your shared WiFi printer into one of those outlets!

Huntkey PAA803-2 provides 8 sockets in total of which 4 of them are equipped with Master-slave control. The Master-Slave Controller allows for automatic power supply of 3 connected power sockets once the central Computer socket is turned on, i.e. the 3 connected peripherals such as LCD, printer, speaker will turn on and off in tandem with your PC. This design not only prolongs product life, but also dramatically reduces electricity use of stand-by devices.
