Details of Dell’s Windows 8 Tablet Leaked

By

To no-one’s surprise, Dell is working on a Windows 8 tablet for release later this year, like every other PC manufacturer out there. However, details of the upcoming Dell Latitude 10 have now leaked out. Basic specs are a 10.8″ overall size, dual core Atom CPU, Intel IGP, 2GB RAM, up to 128GB SSD, TPM module, optional fingerprint reader/smartcard reader, WLAN + Bluetooth, 2/4 cell battery options.

I have left the capacitive touch display’s specification last for a reason: at 1366×768 (16:9 aspect ratio) it’s going to compare very poorly with Apple’s 2048×1536 (4:3 ratio) Retina display in its latest iPad, as the difference is very obvious with just one glance. PC makers are going to have to up their game if they’re to compete against that. The tablet is due for release around November, so there’s enough time to fix this significant shortcoming. There’s no pricing information at this point.

A key feature of the tablet will also be a removable battery that will come in two flavors. We are hearing that the smaller battery will get 6-8 hrs of battery life and the larger battery will get 10-12 hours.
