Sony Introduces PlayStation Network Store Pre-Orders

By

Valve’s Steam platform is very successful, so it isn’t surprising to see others copy some of Steam’s features. Certain Games bought from the Sony PlayStation Network store for the PlayStation 3 can now be preloaded before the game’s official release date, which is similar to what Steam offers. On the day of release, an unlock code will be sent to the console, which allows the game to be played. Unlike Steam however, payment isn’t taken immediately the order is placed, but instead will be charged two days before the release date, in most cases. Preorders can be cancelled by the customer, however, they will be cancelled by Sony if payment cannot be taken on the payment date. The first game to be made available this way is Sorcery, currently available from the European store.
