Steam Remote Game Downloads Feature Now Live

By

Earlier this month, we reported that Valve was to introduce a new Steam client feature called Remote Management. At the time, it was available in the latest beta client. However, it has now gone live and can now be used by all Steam subscribers. To get it, simply run Steam and let it auto update.

This new feature allows the gamer to manage their games library remotely by using a mobile phone or web browser. With the Steam client running on the computer, the gamer is able purchase and download games immediately, without having to wait to get home. Very handy if the time on a special offer is about to expire for example, but also rather conveniently for Valve, helps to make Steam purchases just that little bit more impulsive…

The specific changes include:

– Remote management of your games library through the web or mobile device
– Added UI to redeem Steam wallet vouchers sold by GameStop
– Fixed download issues with new content system
– Fixed crashes related to Steam Workshop file management
