Facebook “Pay To Promote Post” Tool Being Tested

By

It seems Facebook is always up to something, this time its a “pay to promote post” tool which they are testing in New Zealand. A spokesperson talking to the BBC said “We’re constantly testing new features across the site,” and “This particular test is simply to gauge people’s interest in this method of sharing with their friends.” With the testing of the new tool comes pricing options which ranging from $0.50 – $2.00 with payments being made via credit card or PayPal. While the offer seemed shady to users in the beginning, its confirmation as genuine and its continued testing could turn the tool into another source of revenue for Facebook. That said, there has been no mention of when testing will end or if it be tried in other territories. What do our readers think, would you use this feature or not? Tell us what you think.

Different methods of highlighting posts were being tested, said the spokesperson. These would see a range of charges being levied to make posts more visible. Comments on the tests suggest the highest price being charged was 1.25 ($2) while others cost 25p or 50p.
