Asus Launches Two Budget Z77 Motherboards

By

It’s always nice to see a budget-oriented motherboard being made around the latest chipset, bringing the cost of entry down to affordable levels. In this case, it’s Intel’s latest Z77 chipset for Ivy Bridge that gets the budget treatment in the shape of the Asus P8Z77-V LK and P8Z77-V LX motherboards. Nestled in amongst fifteen different models, these boards are no-frills models of the P8Z77-V base design. The P8Z77-V LX is the entry level model and has a smaller PCB at 305x218mm, missing out features such as extra USB 3.0 controllers (two internal only) and TB_Header, since it doesn’t have the required x4 PCI Express slot. Price is around $140.

Coming in at a slightly larger 305x224mm and $5-10 more, is the P8Z77-V LK. This gives a couple of extra niceties, such as angled SATA connectors, a x4 PCI Express slot (no TB_Header though) and ASMedia USB 3.0 controller for a total of six USB 3.0 ports and a small heatsink on some of the MOSFETs.
