NVIDIA Halts Production Of GeForce GTX 580

With NVIDIA’s release of the GeForce GTX 680, the previous flagship product, the GTX 580, has had its production halted. The GeForce GTX 580 which released back on November 9th, 2010, was the fastest single-GPU graphics card until AMD’s release of the Radeon HD 7970 on January 9th, 2012. With TSMC’s 28nm volume production improving and the GeForce GTX 680 having launched, the GeForce GTX 580 is no longer needed as the card has now been officially replaced. This news will come as no surprise to most, considering NVIDIA’s gearing up to launch more 600 series products in the coming months.

Now it appears that Nvidia’s partner manufacturers stop production of the Geforce GTX 580 in favor of the substitute GTX 680th The aging of the graphics card will remain in the trade, while supplies last, then is a career out of what has been styled the world’s fastest graphics processor. Cousin Geforce GTX 590 dual GF110 is already out of contention.
