The Coolest Computer Game Glitches

By

Here’s a bit of fun for an easy Easter Sunday afternoon. 1UP has rounded up some of the coolest and best computer game glitches, presenting them to us with videos of them in action. We have a person’s head turning through 360 degrees in Fallout: New Vegas with the character talking normally throughout – creepy. Then, we have the classic Space Invaders from way back in 1978 before many of us were born, speeding up as there are fewer aliens left. Seems like the game simply becoming more challenging, doesn’t it? Nope, it’s actually a limitation of the original hardware it ran on! The aliens were supposed to keep attacking at the same speed. However, my personal favorite is the Skyrim dragon flying just as well backwards as forwards!

Glitches happen. No matter how hard a developer tries or how much QA testing a game goes through, occasionally a bad bit of code will cause conflicts in some unforeseen way. Most of the time these are minor annoyances, and in our modern age such issues often get patched before they impact too many people. Once in a while, though, they turn out to be hilarious, beneficial, or even a vital part of a game’s legacy. We’ve thought up a few of our favorites. What are yours?
