Newegg Sells Out of GeForce GTX 680’s In One Hour

By

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 launched this morning at 8am CT and by 9am CT all of the cards were sold out on Newegg.com! To be fair Newegg did have GeForce GTX 680 graphics cards available at launch from EVGA, Zotac, Galaxy, Gigabyte, ASUS and PNY with prices ranging from $499 to $529. Our sources told us that supplies were very limited. We knew this would happen since they are priced lower and perform better than the AMD Radeon HD 7970 reference card in many game titles. NVIDIA says that the supply will get better in the weeks and months ahead, so expect to wait a bit if you didn’t already get one. This might be one of the reasons that AMD didn’t lower the price of their AMD Radeon HD 7900 series cards. AMD might not feel that NVIDIA will be able to produce enough of these cards to full market demand. It appears that both TigerDirect and NCIX still have many of the cards available. If you haven’t read our review on the GeForce GTX 680 be sure to check it out here.
