NVIDIA Cuts Prices on Select GeForce GTX Video Cards Ahead of AMD’s New R2xx Cards
Effective this morning, NVIDIA has lowered the prices of several desktop video cards in the GeForce GTX series. NVIDIA told us that they expect Newegg, TigerDirect, and NCIX will be live with this pricing on Monday.

- GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST 2GB: $149
- GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST 1GB: $129
We took a quick look at Newegg and found the ASUS GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB video card (Model GTX650TIB-DC2OC-2GD5) was available for $129.99 after a $20 rebate. NVIDIA also said that we can expect a few partner boards to be priced even lower depending on promotions and rebates this week.
Why would NVIDIA be lowering prices today? AMD is getting ready to launch the Radeon R9 and R7 video card series this week and have the AMD Radeon R7 260X down at the $139 price point and the AMD Radeon R9 270X at the $199 price point. This means the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost is the main competition for the AMD Radeon R7 260X and there really is no dollar for dollar contender at the $199 price point. NVIDIA has the GeForce GTX 660 at $179 and then the GeForce GTX 760 at $249, so there is a $70 price gap with no card in it. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 is priced at $399, which means the GeForce GTX 760 and GeForce GTX 770 did not get any price cuts.
