AMD Launches Two New Bulldozer Processors – FX-4170 & FX-6200

By

AMD has been very quiet on the AMD FX CPU front and we haven’t heard much from AMD about processors in over a month. All that changed today when we got an e-mail from AMD letting us know that they have added two new processor models to the AMD FX desktop CPU line-up, the quad-core AMD FX-4170 and the six-core AMD FX-6200.

AMD FX CPU

The quad-core FX-4170 has a 4.2GHz base clock speed and a 4.3GHz Turbo mode. This is the highest ‘stock’ clocked AMD Bulldozer processor released to date and AMD managed to keep the TDP to 125 Watts. The six-core AMD FX-6200 is clocked at 3.8GHz on the base clock and 4.1GHz in Turbo mode. AMD says that global availability of the AMD FX-4170 and AMD FX-6200 is happening on a rolling timeline, so availability will vary by market. Here in the United States we are told the processors should be available today.
