Motorola Sells Refurbished Xooms, Forgets To Delete Previous Owners Data

By

Another day, another slip up; this time it comes from Motorola. The company managed to put previous customers information at risk when it failed to wipe the memory on a batch of refurbished Xooms. The tablets were sold by Woot.com sometime between October and December of 2011, with Motorola claiming the mistake only affects a small batch of Xoom tablets. The total number of units shipped with previous owner’s data is said to be 100 out of a batch of 6200 refurbished Xooms. Motorola will be going the extra mile for customers suffering from this mistake by offering two years of Experian identification protection services to those whose private information was exposed and are advising customers to call 1-866-926-9803 to sign up for the credit monitoring service. Motorola is even going so far as to offer a $100 American Express gift card to those who send in their affected Xoom to be reset. To find out if your Xoom is among those affected, you can check online or call 1-800-734-5870 and select option 1.
