Foxconn Chairman Calls His 1 Million Employees Animals

By

Apple has recently been pushing the image that they are not sourcing components from Chinese sweatshops. While Apple has been pushing this PR stance for a number of weeks now it appears that has all been destroyed thanks to one of their main contract companies – Foxconn. Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou told his senior managers that Hon Hai has a workforce of over one million worldwide and as human beings are also animals, to manage one million animals gives me a headache. Hon Hai is the parent company of Foxconn, which makes iPhones and iPads for Apple. Gou added that he would like to learn from the director of the Taipei Zoo, Chin Shih-chien, as to how animals should be managed. Many of our readers might recall in 2010-2011 that Foxconn was often talked about here on Legit Reviews for all the suicides that were taking place at their factories. Human rights organisations have criticised the company for their poor work practices, employee safety and alleged management negligence. Just last week, 300 Foxconn workers threatened to commit suicide in Foxconns Wuhan plant over wages and working conditions, and were eventually coaxed down by the mayor of Wuhan after two days. I’m not sure how our readers feel, but Foxconn appears to be a mess and this comment by the chairman was way out of line.
