Super Talent Demos Latest SSDs and Flash Drives at CES 2012

By

While taking a look around the South Hall of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) we bumped into Peter Carcione of Super Talent. Peter showed us all the latest SuperSpeed USB 3.0 drives and even the uber fast PCI Express 3.0 SSDs that they have come out with.

Super Talent RAIDDrive II

Super Talent was showing off two new PCI Express x8 based RAIDDrive models at their booth that caught our attention. The basic model is the upStream 480GB with up to four SSD controllers (SandForce 2200) and then you have the flagship drive, the RAIDDrive II. The RAIDDrive II is available in capacities of up to 2TB and contains eight SF-2200 controllers. The RAIDDrive 2 is smoking fast and we were shown ATTO benchmark numbers of 2.6 GB/s read and 1.6GB/s write! These are obviously sequential read and write scores, but are impressive.

Here is a video that we shot with Peter Carcione that better explains the drives and just how fast they are.

We also managed to spy the Super Talent Express RC8 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Flash drive without the plastic housing on it. This SSD on a stick has 8 channels of flash and is fast thanks to the SandForce controller. Super Talent says this USB 3.0 drive can reach read speeds of up to 270 MB/s and write speed of up to 240 MB/s.
