Western Digital has yet to publicly announce a Thunderbolt-compatible product, but all that changed tonight when the company showed off the WD My Book Thunderbolt Duo at a media event during CES 2012.

WD went big and had not one, but four WD My Book Thunderbolt Duo 6TB models on display that were daisy-chained together. The WD My Book Thunderbolt Duo contains a two 3.5-inch hard drives for 4TB (2x2TB) or 6TB (2x3TB) of storage or you can set them up a mirrored RAID 1 configuration to make a second copy of all your data.

When it comes to performance the test setup for the show was running around 750MB/s read and 560MB/s write. Not bad performance numbers at all and to be honest this is the fastest Thunderbolt setup that we have seen yet at CES 2012. Just remember that these are performance numbers of four enclosures that are daisy-chained and we know that this will be a pricey setup.
