Roku’s Streaming Stick Not Available Until Fall 2012
While at Pepcom’s Digital Experience event, we stopped by the Roku booth to get a few shots of the newly announced Roku Streaming Stick we posted about last week. Sorry to say, we just learned this device will not be available until the Fall! Roku let us take a picture of this demo unit, but we will have to wait quite some time to get our hands on this potentially popular product that promises to make any HDTV a SmartTV.
Smart TV manufacturers have struggled to find an application platform that sticks with consumers especially since software is not their area of expertise, said Kurt Scherf, vice president and principal analyst at Parks Associates. The Roku Streaming Stick is a game changer for the Smart TV market. It takes the leading streaming platform and integrates into the TV in a way that no one has been able to do before.
