CES 2012: Samsung Launches a Laundry Experience Game-Changer

No time to do your laundry? Samsung announced today at CES 2012 an innovative new washing machine designed to save loads of time. The Wi-Fi enabled WF457 Front-Load Washer has a high capacity (stated to hold 31 bath towels), and is Wi-Fi enabled so you can completely control the wash cycles while on the go – even receive alerts on your smartphone when the wash is done. With an 8-inch LCD touchscreen, the Samsung WF457 also promises up to 25% reduced wash time by incorporating Samsung’s SpeedSpray feature. Estimated to use use only 96kW/h per year and 70% less water than top-loading washers, you will see the benefit on each and every utility bill. The Samsung DV457 is the companion front-loading dryer, which features sensors that indicate blockages in the vent. The dryer will then notify the owner it is time to clean it. This feature can greatly reduce the risk of house fires. No word yet on price or availability.

Making its debut at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) January 10-13, the WiFi-enabled WF457 washer”s Smart Control system allows consumers to stay connected to the washer cycle without having to remain close by the machine. Consumers can, via a wireless router and a smartphone application, monitor cycle selections, remaining time and finishing alerts, as well as remotely start or pause the washer a huge benefit to busy moms who spend time running back and forth from the laundry room trying to estimate when the load is done.
