Google can’t use Gmail name in U.K.

Apparently a Britain-based company is playing the name-game with search engine giant Google. The dispute is over the name of Google’s fairly popular free e-mail service, Gmail. Independent International Investment Research (IIIR) has laid claim to this service as one of the company’s subsidiaries has a web mail service with the same name.

Internet search leader Google has been forced to change the name of its free Gmail email service in Britain after failing to secure the necessary trademark.
